I care deeply about our local communities and believe the parks should be designed to strengthen neighborhoods, bring people together, and improve quality of life for everyone.
On February 19th, a month after the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, the Three Rivers Park Board voted (4-1, with 2 abstaining), to continue to do nothing regardless of the many consequences and damages done to our local communities. While communities, businesses, and park systems across the Twin Cities responded with visible support and leadership, our Three Rivers Park board chose silence. I believe our parks should help communities heal, feel safe, and come together in difficult moments, not stand apart from them. What are our parks without our community?
Below is the board meeting and motion that I am referring to:
Regular Board Meeting - 3 - February 19, 2026

The Park Board was presented with evidence that ICE has been in our parks and Marge Beard, John Gibbs, Erin Kolb, and Jan Guenther chose to do nothing.
Additional reasons I’m running:
We need to be investing in making sure our environment remains healthy.
One of the ways this can be done is with solar panels and batteries. While there are many park buildings that wouldn’t be suitable for solar panels and batteries due to the tree coverage they have, there are many that would benefit from alternative energy sources.
Expanding pollinator pathways whether in our parks, or encouraging expansion to happen in the many cities that make up this park district.
A seed library at every park center would be very helpful.
Make sure that parks stay accessible for people of all abilities.
Keep bike trails across the Western Suburbs in development.
Govern by the ideals set forth in the 2040 plan.
Goal 1: You belong here!
We are welcoming and convenient to all people.
Goal 2: Parks matter!
We are essential to vibrant, healthy and livable communities.
Goal 3: Lead by example.
We are intentional and innovative in meeting the needs of today while anticipating and protecting the needs of tomorrow.
